Orthotics at Goodman Healthcare

male with hell painResearch is showing that the feet are the foundation of our posture. One of the biggest causes of musculoskeletal joint pain or muscle pain is an imbalance of our structure. Did you know that one of the biggest things that add to that imbalance is our body’s inability to cope with gravity, evenly from side to side?

About 85% of us have one foot that collapses more than the other as we step and walk– this is called pronation. This is a fancy way of saying that there’s a collapse of that foot on that side, which leads to a change in the angle from the knee to the hip.

One of the biggest functions of your brain is to keep your eyes level with the horizon. So if your pelvis is off, the only way it can do that is by introducing a curve or muscle tension, somewhere along the spine or the neck. Just by changing the way that the feet are loading the body, we can treat issues like neck and shoulder pain and headaches. A lot of times such ailments are alleviated simply by balancing the feet. We do so with custom orthotics by Foot Levelers.

While you can purchase over-the-counter shoe inserts just about everywhere, they aren’t customized and won’t last long as flexible Foot Levelers custom orthotics do.

Conditions That Can Be Addressed

If you have any of the following, custom orthotics can benefit you:

  • Heel pain
  • Hip pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Shin splints
  • Sprains and strains
  • Tendonitis

What to Expect

To ensure that your orthotics are perfectly crafted to meet the needs of your feet, Foot Levelers uses a unique Structural Fingerprint Exam. The space-age technology was invented by NASA to measure the amount of collapse from one side of the body to the other.

The analysis gives us a good idea of how things are looking up the spine as you’re fully weight-bearing against gravity. We can see where the body is compensating. Then we follow it up with digital X-rays to make sure that we measure that distance.

At your first appointment, we measure your foot, and perform a Digital Postural Analysis/foot scan. This analysis registers these areas of collapse and the relationship between the weight-bearing structures/arches of the foot. These measurements are what truly make the orthotic customized to the patient, rather than prefabricated like other alternatives.

We then send all of the information to a lab technician who will build your custom orthotics.

While the InMotion® orthotics are not waterproof and shouldn’t be submerged in water, they are durable and covered up to a 1-year warranty. We do, however, have special products that are completely waterproof and have varying degrees of comfort and durability. When your orthotics are made we will have you come into the practice and fit them for you.

With custom orthotics, you can balance your body and balance the load a lot more effectively.

Are the Foot Levelers orthotics covered under warranty?

Yes, for one year as long as you are following all the recommendations we provide.

Can I put them in different pairs of shoes?

Yes, the orthotics are designed to move from shoe to shoe and for everyday use.

How long does it take to get used to wearing them?

Usually, it takes about six weeks for the body to adjust to the change in the orthotics because it changes the posture on up the kinetic chain.

How long does it take to get the orthotics back?

Typically, the turnaround time is 7-10 days.

How much do they cost?

Our Foot Levelers custom orthotics are $349 a pair. If you choose to order multiple pairs, Foot Levelers will give our practice a discount which we will pass on in full to you, our patient.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, and you also can use your HSA account.

How is getting orthotics from a chiropractic office different from a podiatrist's office?

Most of the time podiatrists are trained to measure the foot when the patient is either sitting or lying down. Therefore the foot is not in a functional position. When we walk, our foot is supposed to splay out and work against gravity to kind of spring off of that. That’s why we take measurements of the feet when a person is moving.

Are Foot Levelers different from Dr. Scholl's I can get at Walmart?

Foot Levelers are made of high-quality, long-lasting materials and are guaranteed for one year; most last longer with care. On the other hand, over-the-counter orthotics are mass-produced and are made using lower-quality materials. Find out more about the differences between custom orthotics and Dr. Scholl’s brand ones on the Foot Levelers website.
